Erasmus Exchange for Incoming Students

Admission of exchange students is based on the LLP/Erasmus student exchange programme and bilateral agreements between higher education institutions.

PS!The list of courses in English and other languages covers courses where the main language of instruction is Estonian, but personal instruction in English or other languages (depending from lecturer) is offered for exchange students.

UT Viljandi Culture Academy (UT VCA) in one of the five colleges of University of Tartu. The University of Tartu (UT) was founded in 1632. UT
is a public university, offering BA, MA, and PhD degree programmes. UT has about 17 500 students, including more than 650 international students. The academy joined University of Tartu in 2005.

UT VCA's main focus is to provide first and second level higher education
and organise in-service trainings in the filed of arts. The academy has a
role of bearer of Estonian native culture as well combining it with modern
and innovative areas. The academy has about 800 students and 5 departments. Besides being an higher educational institution UT VCA is also oriented to develop into internationally known and linked creative and development center of creative industries in Viljandi region and Baltic Sea area.

All the curricula mentioned here offer applied higher education (240 ECTS, 4-years), exept School Music programme (180 ECTS, 3-years) and MA in Music Teacher programme (120 ECTS, 2-years). Please read more about the departments and programmes from their pages.
  • Culture Education: leisure-time manager-teacher, culture management;
  • Performing Arts: dance art, theatre creative-technical studies;
  • Music: traditional, jazz, school, MA in music teacher;
  • Estonian Native Crafts: textile, construction;
  • Information Studies: information science and records management, librarianship and information science

In addition for general documents Motivation letter is also required for Music and Dance Art students:

- CD or DVD with recorded performance up to 15 minutes.


* Music Department requirements:

-  Traditional music - song a capella, 2 pieces on main traditional musical instrument and, if desired, you may also include a piece on an additional instrument;
-  Jazz music - 2 pieces of different character on your main instrument;
-  Classical and church music - song a capella, 2 pieces on main musical instrument;
-  School music - song a capella, 2 pieces on main musical instrument.
